Passenger traffic on network owned by Russian Railways up 2.5% in November

According to the latest figures, 97.7 million passengers were carried on the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways in November 2019, 2.5% more than in the same month last year. Suburban commuter passengers amounted to 89.2 million, an increase of 2.3% on November 2018, while long-distance passenger numbers rose to 8.6 million.

Passenger turnover in November 2019 amounted to 9.2 billion pass-km, 2.6% more than in the same month in 2018. Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 2.8 billion passenger-kilometres, an increase of 1.5%, while in long-distance passenger turnover rose 3.1% to 6.5 billion pass-km.

In total, more than 1.1 billion passengers were carried between January and November 2019, an increase of 3.7% on the January to November 2018 period. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 992.4 million, up 3.5%, while long-distance passengers were up 5.6% to 107.8 million.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways network increased by 3.1% between January and November 2019 compared to the same period in the previous year and amounted to 124 billion pass-kilometres. Suburban commuter turnover was up 3.7% to 31.6 billion pass-km, while long-distance passenger turnover increased by 2.9% to 92.4 billion pass-km.

Since the beginning of 2019, the Moscow Central Ring (MCC) has transported 133.7 million passengers, 14% more than in the same period last year. Since it began operations on 10 September 2016, almost 400.7 million passengers have used the services of the Moscow Central Ring. The MCC achieved a record number of passengers since its opening on 29 November 2019, when it carried 571,343 people.
