RZD Holding and REC launch new route for non-primary exports from Russia to China via Mongolia
RZD Logistics, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, and the Russian Export Center (REC) are expanding the service of non-primary exports from Russia to China and opening a new "circular" railway route between Vorsino – Chengdu – Vorsino.
This is a new stage in the development of the Vorsino – Dalian container export train, which is already in service and has been operating successfully since April 2017. The service will work within the framework of REC’s project to support companies with an orientation towards the export of non-primary resources when transporting their goods to China.
The train departed on the new route from the Freight Village terminal at Vorsino at 21:00 on 13 September 2017 and consisted of 41 large-capacity (40-foot) containers. It will proceed to China via the border posts of Naushki (Russia) and Zamyn-Uud (Mongolia). Travel time is no more than 14 days. The consignor is United Confectioners Ltd., which exports confectionery products such as biscuits and wafers to China.
This shipment also symbolises the opening of the first "circular" Russia – China route via Mongolia. The departure schedule will be arranged in such a way as to exclude the dispatch of empty wagons: upon arrival in China, trains with containers from Vorsino to Chengdu will take containers from Chengdu and deliver them to Vorsino.
