President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov sums up Company's work in January-October 2015
Oleg Belozerov, President of Russian Railways, summed up the Company's performance in October 2015 and the 10 months of 2015 during a conference call which took place on 6 November 2015.
According to Belozerov, tariff freight turnover in January-October remained at the same level as last year, while tariff freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs fell by 0.2%.
Overall, in the 10 months so far, the Company shipped more than 1 billion tons of freight, which is 1.3% less than during the same period in 2014.
In January-October, passenger traffic on the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways decreased by 6.8% compared to the same period in 2014. Long-distance passenger numbers fell by 7.3%, while suburban travellers were down by 5.2%.
"We are obliged to undertake measures to improve the dynamics over the whole year in order to improve our financial performance," said the President of Russian Railways.
Oleg Belozerov emphasised the need for quality staff training for the Company's work during the winter season and the fulfillment of financial, economic and volume indicators.
"I ask everyone to concentrate as much as possible on solving the problems we face. In these extremely difficult conditions, the Company must clearly meet all its commitments - before the country, before society, and indeed before our own employees. I believe each of you are aware that the directions of our development in the future depend on how we work this year and what results we achieve," stressed Oleg Belozerov.
