Russian Railways' network loaded 99.8 million tons in April 2015

According to the latest figures, loading on the network owned by Russian Railways in April 2015 amounted to 99.8 million tons, 2% less than during the same month in 2014.

Freight turnover in April 2015 decreased by 2.1% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 185.4 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs also fell by 2.1% and reached 238.3 billion ton-km.

According to the latest figures, loading from January-April 2015 fell to 391.8 million tons, 1% less than during the same period in 2014.

During January-April 2015, the railways shipped the following goods. The figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January-April 2014.

  • coal – 105,7 m tons;
  • coke – 3.7 m tons (-0.8%);
  • petroleum and petroleum products – 86.5 m tons (-0.3%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 36.4 m tons (+2.8%);
  • ferrous metals – 24.5 m tons (+4.8%);
  • ferrous metals scrap – 4.5 m tons (+10.2%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 17.1 m tons (-0.9%);
  • cement – 7.6 m tons (-13.7%);
  • timber – 13.9 m tons (+1.7%);
  • grain and milled products – 5.8 m tons (+14.2%);
  • construction materials – 34.2 m tons (-21.8%);
  • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 6.4 m tons (+2.7%);
  • chemicals and soda – 8.5 m tons (-4%);
  • industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 10.2 m tons (+1%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2015 amounted to 748.4 billion tariff ton-kilometres, a fall of 0.3%. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs fell to 963.1 billion ton-kilometres, a decline of 0.7%.
