Loading volume of export goods to ports increased by 3.6% in 2019

Loading volumes to seaports on the railway network owned by Russian Railways amounted to 308.8 million tons in 2019, an increase of 3.6% compared to 2018.

About 131.1 million tons of freight were shipped to the ports of Russia’s North-West region in 2019, up 3.4% compared to 2018, 76 million tons to the South, an increase of 1%, and 101.7 million tons to Russia’s Far East, a rise of 5.8%.

Coal was the leader in export freight, accounting for 50.2% of the total, followed by oil at 26.8%, ferrous metals at 7.1% and fertilisers at 6.8%.

The loading of coal for export via sea terminals increased by 8.6% and amounted to 155 million tons in 2019. About 15 million tons of solid fuel were thus dispatched to the ports of the Russian South, up by 38.7%, 54.2 million tons to the ports of the North-West, 4.7%), and about 86 million tons to the ports in Russia’s the Far East, an increase of 7.1%.
