* Trends in freight wagon turnover are directly related to changes in the structure of the working fleet. Empty rolling stock that was not involved in the transportation process had a negative impact on the increase in wagon turnover. In August 2020, the empty wagon fleet exceeded the level of the previous year by 47,500 wagons or 7.9%. Every day, more than 229,000 wagons in an empty state stood idle unproductive and without operations for more than 3 days on the Company’s infrastructure and non-public tracks, an increase of 34% on the same month last year. The number of empty wagons in stationary freight trains rose to 3,700 wagons per day, which was up 18%.

The wagon turnaround time is the period spent on the operational cycle from the moment that one loading is completed to the moment the next loading is finished or to the wagon’s delivery or return in a loaded or empty state, that is, the average time the wagon spends on one shipment. This is the main indicator of the quality of the freight wagon fleet’s utilisation.
