Passenger numbers on the network owned by Russian Railways increased by 3.4% in January 2020

According to the latest figures, almost 86.8 million passengers were transported on the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways in January 2020, which is 3.4% more than in the same month last year. Suburban commuter services carried about 77.7 million passengers, an increase of 3.2% on January 2019, while long-distance passenger numbers were up to almost 9.1 million, a rise of 4.3%.

Passenger turnover in January 2020 amounted to 9.5 billion passenger-kilometres, which is 4% more than in the same month of 2019. Passenger turnover on suburban commuter services rose 4% to 2.5 billion pass-km. Long-distance passenger turnover also increased by 4% and amounted to 7 billion pass-km.

The Moscow Central Ring (MCC) has transported 11.6 million passengers since the beginning of 2020, 16.7% more than in January last year.

More than 426.7 million passengers have used the services of the Moscow Central Ring since it began operations on 10 September 2016. A record number of MCC travellers on one day was recorded on 25 December 2019, when passenger numbers amounted to 580,112.
