GEFCO extends partnership with vacuum solutions leader Busch

Busch, a world-leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, blowers and compressors, recently announced a 20% increase in logistics operations with long-term partner GEFCO. Supplying crucial business segments ranging from energy to medical supplies, Busch requires high-end supply-chain expertise to ensure on-time delivery and quality for its global operations.

GEFCO manages comprehensive supply-chain operations for Busch, including finished product and parts, logistics and warehousing activities throughout Switzerland. With a monthly average of 7,500 pallets or 2 million parts stored, 3,500 order lines processed and well over 1,800 product references managed, GEFCO has considerably increased its activity for Busch over the past two years. This is mostly to meet rising demand for vacuum pumps in manufacturing facilities in the medical sector (for Covid-19 vaccine production) and the fast-growing renewable energy sector (for batteries, hydrogen motors, solar cells and wind turbines). Notably, the Busch group supplied two hospitals in Wuhan, China, at the height of the pandemic. The Chevenez plant, in Switzerland, which runs seven days a week, is one of the largest of Busch’s eight factories worldwide.

Christian Hoffmann, CEO of Ateliers Busch SA in Switzerland, commented: "Our long partnership with GEFCO has been crucial to ensuring smooth operations in a difficult economic context. We needed a high degree of responsiveness as our operations increased significantly in a very short lapse of time. GEFCO has gone the extra mile and adapted its workforce to provide continuity and ensure on-demand fulfilment."

Frank Erhardt, General Manager of GEFCO’s Germany, Austria and Switzerland cluster, said: "We’re very proud of being a supply chain partner for Busch, a global leader in its sector. Our tailored logistics concept and our specifically trained workforce in Fahy help us to keep going the extra mile for our customer."

With over 50 years of industrial experience, Busch is one of the largest manufacturers of vacuum pumps, blowers and compressors in the world. The company’s product range comprises the largest selection of solutions for vacuum and overpressure technology in all industry sectors worldwide. The Busch workforce of more than 3,500 employees is present in over 50 countries. Busch operates production plants in Switzerland, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Korea, India and the USA. The Group’s headquarters are located in Maulburg (Germany).
