RZD Express dispatches anti-avalanche installation to Buryatia
As part of a project being carried out by RZD Express, experts at RZD Logistics transported a DaisyBell mobile remote avalanche-release system manufactured by Technologie Alpine de Securite (TAS) from the city of Rostov-on-Don to the town of Severobaykalsk in the Republic of Buryatia. Daisy Bell weighs in at 550 kg, is 2.45 m high and has a diameter of 1.5 m.
The Daisy Bell conical avalanche-release system is designed to force the descent of avalanches by an active remote influence on the snow without the use of explosives.
The shipment was commissioned by the North Caucasus Directorate of Infrastructure at Russian Railways. As part of the transportation, the Rostov branch of RZD Logistics, provided a range of logistics services in conjunction with the North Caucasus Directorate for the Management of the Terminal and Warehouse Complex, including loading and unloading, storing the cargo in the warehouse and freight insurance.
Shipping from Rostov-on-Don — Severobaykalsk was done by two types of transport: by road using a Mercedes euro trailer from a warehouse in Rostov-on-Don to Krasnoyarsk, and by rail from Krasnoyarsk station to Severobaykalsk station on East-Siberian Railways, where Daisy Bell was again transshipped to road transport and delivered to the consignee.
