1942 -  North-Pechora Railway is built

Rails enough for the construction of the first 140 km from Ilovlya to Petrov Val. August 7 at the 103rd day after the start of work on the site Ilovlya - Petrov Val went to the first freight trains. September 11, 1942 and opened to traffic in the area Petrov Val - Saratov.

Volga Rokada closed the railway ring Povorino - Archeda - Ilovlya - Petrov Val - Kamyshin - Balashov - Povorino. This enabled the circular movement and increase bandwidth portion is almost 40 times. Rokada became the main arteries feeding the huge Stalingrad Front.
