The Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of OJSC Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and the Governor of Khabarovsk Krai Mikhail Degtyarov held a working meeting in Khabarovsk in Russia’s Far East region on 11 January 2022.

The main topic under discussion was the cooperation of the RZD Holding and the regional Government of Khabarovsk Krai on the development of transport and passenger infrastructure.

As noted by Oleg Belozerov, improving the quality of passenger traffic is one of the Company’s top priorities. The Company plans to consider the issue of purchasing new electric trains in cooperation with the regional government.

The implementation of large-scale modernisation programmes at Far Eastern Railways which will enable and further increase the volume of freight traffic to the Pacific ports of Soviet Gavan and Vanino will be continued.

Belozerov and Degtyarov also discussed the issue of reconstructing the children’s railway in Khabarovsk, a project which may be implemented with the participation of the government of the Khabarovsk Krai after taking into account the views of the city’s residents.

Far Eastern Railways is one of the largest taxpayers in Russia’s Far East region. In 2021, the regional budget of Khabarovsk Krai’s Main Line exceeded 5.39 billion roubles.

Freight loading volumes at Far Eastern Railways in Khabarovsk Krai during the past year amounted to nearly 23 million tons. The main goods transported were coal, timber and petroleum products.
