Passenger numbers on network owned by Russian Railways increased by 20.5% from January to November 2021
According to the latest figures, Russian Railways transported 77.6 million passengers on its own infrastructure in November 2021, 10.1% more than in the same month last year. Suburban passenger numbers were up 8.7% to 71.8 million, while long-distance passengers jumped 31.5% to 5.8 million.
Passenger turnover in November 2021 amounted to 6.6 billion passenger-kilometres, 29.8% more than in the same month in 2020. Suburban passenger turnover was up 14.9% to 2.1 billion pass-km, while long-distance passenger turnover increased by 38.4% to 4.5 billion pass-km.
In total, 962.1 million passengers travelled in January-November 2021, an increase of 20.5% compared to January-November 2020. Long-distance passengers totalled 85.3 million, up 36.4% on the same eleven months of 2020, while suburban passengers were up to 876.8 million, an increase of 19.2%.
Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network since the beginning of 2021 has increased by 33.1% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 96.5 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover totalled 26.6 billion pass-km, an increase of 17.1%, while long-distance passenger turnover jumped 40.3% to 69.6 billion pass-km.
