Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin gets acquainted with progress on reconstruction

During a working trip to the railways in Eastern Russia, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin inspected the railway infrastructure and power supply facilities which are now under construction on the sections between Belogorsk-II in the Amur Region and Khabarovsk and between Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Sovetskaya Gavan in Khabarovsk Territory.

The delegation included the Deputy Managing Directors of Russian Railways Andrey Makarov and Vasily Frolov.

A number of important projects are being implemented in the direction of Russia’s Pacific ports within the framework of the programme to modernise the infrastructure of the Baikal-Amur (BAM) and Trans-Siberian Main Lines in Russia’s vast Eastern region.

In particular, Marat Khusnullin became acquainted with the progress on the reconstruction of Belogorsk-II station, as well as the construction of the second track on the Eldigan – Tudur stretch and the modernisation of Selikhin station. Commissioning these facilities will significantly increase the permissible weight of trains which can run on the tracks and the throughput on the eastern sections of the Trans-Siberian and BAM.

Also discussed during the visit was the construction of a second track along the entire length of the Komsomolsk-on-Amur – Vanino line and the prospects for electrifying the Volochaevka-2 – Komsomolsk-Sortirovochny and the Komsomolsk-Sortirovochny – Vanino sections. It is planned to complete the construction work and launch electric locomotives on these lines in 2024.
