RZD Holding completes new railway line on viaduct near Beska station in Serbia
On 25 March 2021, RZD International, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, laid the final link of the railway line along the viaduct near the settlement of Beshka on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section on the Belgrade – Budapest line.
The laying of the last link was attended by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Serbia’s Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirović, Russia’s Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botan-Kharchenko, the First Deputy Managing Director of Russian Railways Sergey Pavlov and the Director of RZD International LLC’s branch in the Republic of Serbia Mansurbek Sultanov, as well as the Acting Managing Director of Serbia Railways Infrastructure JSC Neboisha Shurlan.
The erected viaduct intersects with the Maradik – Beshka road. The viaduct’s span structures were designed and manufactured in Russia and have a total weight of more than 2,000 tons. Unique Russian technologies were also used at the facility to reduce noise and vibrations when trains pass over the bridge.
Traffic along the viaduct is due to commence after the completion of all work on the Stara Pazova – Novi Sad section and the tests of the infrastructure facilities, which are scheduled for Autumn 2021.
“This is not just a new link in the railway line, but a new link in the strong partnership between Russia and Serbia, which has proven that together we can handle the most daring projects,” said Sergei Pavlov.
