Russian Railways transported 70.7 million passengers in February 2021
According to the latest figures, the infrastructure of Russian Railways transported 70.7 million passengers in February 2021, 19.4% less than in the same month last year. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 65.5 million, down 18.7%, while long-distance passengers fell 26.5% to 5.2 million.
Passenger turnover in February 2021 totalled 5.4 billion passenger-kilometres, 28.5% less than in the same month in 2020. Suburban passenger turnover was 1.9 billion pass-km, a fall of 19.9%, while long-distance passenger turnover declined 32.4% to 3.5 billion pass-km.
In total, 136.5 million passengers travelled in January and February 2021, down 22.9% compared to the first two months of 2020. Long-distance passengers amounted to 11.1 million, down 31.1%, while suburban passengers fell 22.1% to 125.4 million.
Passenger turnover on the network owned by Russian Railways since the beginning of 2021 decreased by 32.7% compared to the previous year and amounted to 11.6 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover totalled 3.7 billion pass-km, down 24.3 %, while long-distance passenger turnover was 7.9 billion pass-km, a decline of 36%.
