Oleg Belozerov: “The environmental culture at Russian Railways should become a part of all production processes”
Oleg Belozerov, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of Russian Railways, has held a production meeting with the heads of the Company’s rail divisions.
One of the key tasks for 2021, said Belozerov, was to strengthen the Company’s global leadership in environmental protection and energy efficiency.
“Our environmental culture must become an integral part of all production processes. We are obliged not only to complete all the planned activities in full, but also to implement additional effective measures in that area,” said Oleg Belozerov.
Belozerov also noted that the environmental component was becoming one of the key factors in the Company’s financial stability and would have an impact on attracting investments. The CEO and Chairman of Russian Railways also said that taking into account the gradual easing of the restrictions to contain the pandemic, the Holding would restore the volume of passenger traffic and develop new tourist products in different regions of the country.
Cargo operations also saw the introduction of several new products at the beginning of the year, especially the transportation of coal in containers from Russia to China and the launch of a container train from Turkey to Russia.
