Passenger traffic on double-decker trains increased by more than 10% in November 2020
The Federal Passenger Company transported about 450,000 passengers by double-decker trains in November 2020, 10.5% more than during the same month last year.
The share of passengers using double-decker trains from January to November 2020 amounted to 9% of total traffic, up from 6.4% in the same eleven-month period in 2019.
The increase in passengers on double-decker trains has been encouraged by an increase in the number of double-deckers in the Federal Passenger Company’s carriage fleet and an increase in the number of routes on which trains with double-decker carriages run, as well as the participation of double-decker trains in various promotions and ticket discount schemes.
The Federal Passenger Company fleet currently has over 550 double-deck carriages. In total, 19 pairs of double-decker trains currently run on 14 routes on Russia’s railways.
