Passenger traffic on network owned by Russian Railways down 22.2% in October 2020
According to the latest figures, the infrastructure owned by Russian Railways transported 82.3 million passengers in October 2020, 22.2% fewer than in the same month last year. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 76.8 million, a decline of 20.7% on October 2019, while long-distance passengers were down 38.1% to 5.5 million.
In total, 728.1 million passengers were transported during from January to October 2020, a fall of 27.4% compared to the same ten months in 2019. Long-distance passengers fell to 58.1 million, a decline of 41.5%, while suburban passenger numbers were down to 670 million, a decrease of 25.8%.
According to the latest figures, passenger turnover in October 2020 amounted to 6.5 billion pass-kilometres, 35.5% down on the same month in 2019. Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 2.3 billion pass-km, a fall of 22.8%, while long-distance passenger turnover fell to 4.2 billion pass-km, a decline of 40.9%.
Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways network since the beginning of 2020 was down by 41.1% compared to the same ten-month period last year and amounted to 67.5 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover declined by 27.3% to 20.9 billion pass-km, while long-distance passenger turnover fell 45.8% to 46.6 billion pass-km.
