Russian Railways, Rail Transport Engineering Centre and Knorr-Bremse to cooperate on developing high-speed trains
An agreement to cooperate on engineering and advisory services has been signed by Russian Railways, the Rail Transport Engineering Centre and Knorr-Bremse.
The agreement was signed in order to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of engineering and consulting services, pre-project and design services, design developmentand operational and repair documentation for components of high-speed railway rolling stock and their corresponding production in the Russian Federation.
"Russian Railways has been successfully working with Knorr-Bremse for many years. The signing of this agreement is a new stage in our cooperation and will certainly contribute to the development of high-speed rail services in the Russian Federation," said Sergey Kobzev, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Engineer at Russian Railways.
"Knorr-Bremse is an expert centre for a number of high-speed train systems. Cooperation with Knorr-Bremse will significantly increase the competence of our Centre’s engineers," said Alexander Kireytsev, Manging Director of the Rail Transport Engineering Centre.
Knorr-Bremse is one of the world’s leading experts in the production of braking systems for rail transport, air conditioning systems, outside passenger doors and electrical and electronic equipment for high-speed rolling stock.
The Rail Transport Engineering Centre was established by Russian Railways and Sinara-Transport Machines Holding, part of the Sinara Group, to develop competencies in the design and production of innovative railway rolling stock and infrastructure in Russia. The Centre has begun a pilot project to develop and manufacture high-speed rolling stock in the Russian Federation capable of speeds of up to 400 kph.
