Russian railway workers assist colleagues from Mongolia in disaster relief
Russian Railways is providing emergency assistance to Mongolian railway workers after parts of the railway line on the Aguyt – Naran-Elgen and Naran-Elgen – Oortsog-Engairsections in the central part of Mongolia were swept away following heavy rain on 21 June 2020. Trains along these sections has been stopped.
Mongolia’s Ministry of Roads and Transport Development had appealed earlier to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation with a request for assistance. On the morning of 22 June 2020, a train consisting of 16 specialised platforms was dispatched from Naushka station to the Sukhe-Bator station on Ulan-Bator Railways. They will be used to transport the finished rail line during the work to restore the sections which have been washed away.
