Demand for long-distance travel recovers as passengers buy more tickets online
Passengers in May 2020 booked almost 1.77 million electronic tickets for long-distance trains operated by the Russian Railways Holding, including high-speed Sapsan trains, high-speed Lastochka trains and Strizh, 47% more than in April.
In May, Russian Railways resumed ticket sales 90 days before train departures, thus allowing passengers to book tickets in advance and plan their trips for the summer season.

When buying electronic tickets for long-distance trains online, passengers can also register electronically. After registration, passengers only need to show the conductor the identity document which was specified when booking the ticket.
