Clarification of temporary procedure when crossing Abkhazia’s border

In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection, Valeri Bganba, the Acting President of the Republic of Abkhazia, has issued an order according to which restrictions have been imposed on citizens of other states and stateless persons entering Abkhazia for tourism and sightseeing.

A further announcement on the end of the restrictions will be made in due course.

To return home from Abkhazia, citizens of the Russian Federation can use train No. 306 Sukhum - Moscow, which will run as usual.

The next train from Sukhumi to Moscow will depart on 28 March 2020 at 19:43 and will arrive at Kazan railway station in the Russian capital at 14:55 on 30 March.

Train No. 305 Moscow - Sukhumi will also continue to run normally, but will not stop at stations along the Vesyoloye - Sukhumi section.

Passengers can return tickets from and to these stations, including electronic tickets, to the carrier’s rail ticket offices without incurring any additional fees and charges.

Passengers can obtain detailed information on the procedure for receiving refunds for unused tickets and about passenger services from the 24-hour Unified Information and Service Centre of Russian Railways by phoning 8 (800) 775-00-00 when calling from within Russia and on +7 (499) 605-20-00 when calling from abroad.
