Freight volumes loaded on network owned by Russian Railways and shipped to ports for export increased by 8% in January-May 2021

In January-May 2021, freight volumes loaded on to the railway network owned by Russian Railways and shipped to Russian seaports for export amounted to 148.2 million tons, 8% more than in the same period in 2020, including 59.9 million tons of various cargoes, an increase of 7.8%, 38.8 million tons shipped to Russia’s ports in the South, up 18.4%, and 49.5 million tons dispatched to the ports of the Far East, a rise of 8.9%.

Coal accounted for 51.6% of the total export volume, oil cargo for 22.8%, ferrous metals for 7%, fertilisers for 5.8% and grain for 2.7%.

Coal loading volumes shipped to ports in January-May 2021 increased 16.1% to 76.4 million tons. Shipped to the ports of the Far East were 41.2 million tons of solid fuel, up 8.9%, over 11.5 million tons transported to the ports of the South, an increase of 1.8 times, and 23.7 million tons to Russia’s ports in the North-West, a rise of 11.1%.
