On the establishment of the BRICS Business Council was announced on the sidelines
of the BRICS summit V in Durban (South Africa) 27 March 2013
In accordance with the constituent documents of the Council's activities aimed at creating a platform for discussions on strengthening and promoting the economic, trade, business and investment ties between the business communities of the five countries, and to ensure dialogue between the business community and representatives of government agencies.
Decision of the Heads of State at the BRICS Business Council includes five representatives from each country. Russia is represented by the Business Council of BRICS heads of Vnesheconombank, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, SC "Russian Technologies" and OJSC "Russian Railways". The chairmanship in the framework of the Russian part of the BRICS DS performs CCI Russia.
During the Russian presidency (April 2015 - February 2016) held the BRICS Business Forum (June 18, 2015, St. Petersburg), the meeting of the Business Council of BRICS (July 8, 2015, Ufa). The next meeting of the Council scheduled for February 2016 in Moscow.
Work continues on the development of cooperation of business circles of the BRICS countries in the framework of sectoral working groups on cooperation in the infrastructure (including all types of transport and logistics), in the manufacturing sector, in the sphere of finance, energy and "green economy" in the field of vocational training, agriculture and agriculture, and also in part to eliminate excessive administrative barriers.
JSC "Russian Railways" in the framework of a working group co-ordinates the development of infrastructure. The priority of the working group participants agreed on three areas of cooperation:
1) regional integration, providing an opportunity to promote bilateral and multilateral integration projects in infrastructure development in Latin America, Africa and Eurasia;
2) providing sources of financing promising infrastructure projects, including the consideration of the possibility of raising funds New Development Bank, created for this purpose by States Parties BRICS;
3) intellectual leadership, involves improving and accelerating the exchange of information between the business community of the BRICS countries.
