In March, 2013 between JSC "Russian Railways", Vietnamese and Vietnamese railway
company "An Vien" signed an agreement of intent on cooperation in the field of design
and construction of railway infrastructure in Vietnam. The agreement was signed in order to implement the national strategy for the development
of railways and Vietnam confirms the parties' intention to cooperate in the implementation
of the project for the construction and operation of the railway line in the south
of the country.
May 14, 2013 during the visit of Prime Minister of Vietnam in Russia signed a framework agreement on cooperation between JSC "Russian Railways", the Vietnamese railways and by "An Vien" detailing earlier agreements.
Representatives of JSC "Russian Railways", together with the Vietnamese railways and by "An Vien" was finalized construction concept 240-kilometer railway line in the south of Vietnam, which is submitted to the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
In the future, holding "Russian Railways" can act as a technical consultant and contractor for the design and construction of the said railway line. In addition, taking into account the need to modernize the rail network in Vietnam may participate holding "Russian Railways" and other infrastructure projects in the territory of that State.
April 6, 2015 during the official visit of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed an agreement on cooperation between JSC "Russian Railways" and state company "Vietnam Railways", providing for the development of cooperation in several areas: logistics, implementation of infrastructure projects, cooperation within international organizations, exchange of experience and scientific and technical information .
Currently, with the Vietnamese side the work on the practical implementation of the agreement, including the promotion of trilateral project to build a railway line in the south of Vietnam and the study of the issue of supply of railway equipment and rolling stock Russian-made for the needs of Vietnam Railways.
