Perishable Goods

Russian Railways uses its refrigerated wagons and containers to transport perishable food products, meat, meat products and frozen and chilled fish. Shipping frozen food products by refrigerated rail transport is always accompanied by the sanitary certification.

Transporting refrigerated meat guarantees that none of its taste, useful elements or properties is lost. Repeated thawing has a disastrous effect on meat and other products, so we monitor constantly the technical condition of freezers.

OJSC Refservice is a subsidiary of Russian Railways and the largest operator of specialised rolling stock for the transport of perishable goods in Russia and the CIS. Refservice's rolling stock carries goods such as:

  • fish,
  • meat,
  • fruit,
  • dairy products,
  • beer,
  • juices,
  • soft drinks,
  • canned goods,
  • margarine products.
