Cooperation with Patentes Talgo S.L.

Russian Railways is implementing a project on the narrow and broad gauge systems (1435 mm and 1520 mm) aimed at providing international services using tilting passenger wagons which are capable of changing gauge and manufactured by Patentes Talgo S.L.

An agreement on collaboration and the supply of 7 passenger trains consisting of 140 carriages was signed by Russian Railways and Patentes Talgo S.L. on 18 June 2011.

The trains are due to run between Moscow-Minsk-Warsaw-Berlin (3 trains with adjustable gauge) and Moscow-Kiev (4 tilting trains).

The two companies also signed a cooperation agreement on science and technology which provides for the mutual collaboration, design and operation of technical services, tests on new generation trains and the harmonisation of corresponding regulatory systems.

In addition, a framework contract was signed by the Russian Scientific Research Institute of Railway Transport and Patentes Talgo S.L., which aims at adapting Patentes Talgo passenger trains to the 1520 mm broad gauge system.
