Passenger numbers on the Russian Railways' network increase by 7.2% in November 2016
According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways' infrastructure transported 86.9 million passengers in November 2016, 7.2% more than in November 2015. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 79.5 million, an increase of 7.9%, while long-distance passengers stood at 7.4 million, the same as in November 2015.
Passenger turnover was 8.6 billion passenger-kilometres in November 2016, 1.5% less than in November 2015. Passenger turnover on long-distance routes fell 2.3% to 6.1 billion passenger-km in November 2016, while suburban passenger turnover rose 0.6% to 2.4 billion passenger-km.
In January-November 2016, 946.8 million passengers travelled, an increase of 1% compared to January-November 2015. Long-distance passenger numbers rose 3.9% to 94.1 million, while suburban passengers were up to 852.6 million, an increase of 0.6%.
Since the beginning of 2016, passenger turnover on the Russian Railways' network increased by 3.8% compared to last year and amounted to 116.1 billion passenger-kilometres. Long-distance passenger turnover in January-November increased by 5.2% to 87.7 billion passenger-kilometers, while the suburban traffic fell slightly by 0.1% to 28.4 billion passenger-km.
