Loading on the network of Russian Railways increased by 3.5% in November 2017

According to the latest figures, loading on the network owned by OJSC Russian Railways in November 2017 amounted to 105.7 million tons, 3.5% more than in November 2016.

Freight turnover during November 2017 increased by 5.7% compared to November 2016 and amounted to 210.6 billion tariff ton-km.

Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs in November 2017 increased by 5.3% and amounted to 268.9 billion ton-km.

According to the latest figures, loading volumes during January-November 2017 amounted to 1.1511 billion tons, 3% more than in the same period last year.

During January-November 2017, the railways shipped the following items of freight. Figures in brackets show the percentage changed compared to January-November 2016:

  • coal – 325.9 million tons (+9%);
  • coke – 10.2 million tons (-4.6%);
  • oil and petroleum products – 214.2 million tons (-0.1%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 100.7 million tons (+0.2%);
  • ferrous metals – 65.8 million tons (+1.8%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 14.4 million tons (+4.5%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 51.9 million tons (+7%);
  • cement – 25.4 million tons (+0.2%);
  • timber – 39.6 million tons (+2.8%);
  • grain – 19.6 million tons (+15.7%);
  • construction materials – 123.5 million tons (-6.8%);
  • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 18.6 million tons (-4.5%);
  • chemicals and soda – 23.8 million tons (+2%);
  • industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 33.6 million tons (+4%).

Freight turnover from the beginning of 2017 amounted to 2.2721 trillion tariff ton-km, an increase of 6.5% compared to the same period in 2016.

Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs increased by 6.1% to 2.8971 trillion ton-km.
