Passenger numbers on Sapsan trains between Moscow and St. Petersburg increased by
9% in January-July 2018
In January-July of 2018, 3.1 million passengers travelled on the high-speed Sapsan
trains running between Moscow and St. Petersburg, 9.2% more than in the same period
In July 2018, Sapsan trains carried 545,500 passengers, an increase of 3% on July
In total, more than 31.1 million passengers have travelled on these high-speed
Sapsan trains since their launch, including 5.1 million passengers in 2017, 6% more
than in 2016.
The positive growth in passenger numbers on the Sapsans is due to their attractive
and convenient conditions, including timetable, travel time and comfort, as well as
a flexible pricing policy.
Up to 15 pairs of Sapsan trains now run between Russia’s two capitals daily
and carry an average of more than 15,000 passengers a day.
