Loading on the network of Russian Railways in June 2017 increased by 2.6%

According to the latest figures, loading on the network of Russian Railways in June 2017 amounted to 103.8 million tons, 2.6% more than in June 2016.

Freight turnover in June 2017 increased by 7.2% compared to June 2016 and amounted to 202.5 billion tariff ton-km.

Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs increased by 7% over the same period and amounted to 257.2 billion ton-km.

During January-June 2017, the railways shipped the following items of freight. Figures in brackets show the percentage change compared to January-June 2016:

  • coal – 177.3 million tons (+9.4%);
  • coke – 5.6 million tons (-0.6%);
  • oil and petroleum products – 117.8 million tons (+1.1%);
  • iron and manganese ores – 54.6 million tons (-0.5%);
  • ferrous metals – 35.2 million tons (-1%);
  • ferrous metal scrap – 7.1 million tons (+2.4%);
  • chemical and mineral fertilisers – 28.4 million tons (+8.1%);
  • cement – 12.5 million tons (-1.4%);
  • timber – 22.8 million tons (+4.3%);
  • grain – 9.2 million tons (+9.9%);
  • construction materials – 65 million tons (-5.5%);
  • non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 10.2 million tons (-1.9%);
  • chemicals and soda – 13 million tons (+2%);
  • industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 18 million tons (+14%).

According to the latest figures, loading from January to June 2017 amounted to 620.7 million tons, 3.6% more than in the same period last year.

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2017 amounted to 1,225.3 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 7.4%. Freight turnover including empty wagon runs was 1,564.2 billion ton-km, up 7%.
