Loading volumes of freight exports to ports increased by 2.5% in January-September 2019

The loading volumes on the rail network of OJSC Russian Railways to seaports increased by 2.5% during January-September 2019 compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to 228.2 million tons. Coal loading increased by 8% to 116.1 million tons, including to Russia’s southern ports, to which growth exceeded 31% and rose to 10.3 million tons. The loading of solid fuel to Russia’s ports in the country’s Northwest region increased by 6.5% to 41 million tons and to the Far East by 6% to 64.8 million tons.

Coal accounted for over 48.3% of export freight, while oil made up 26.3%, ferrous metals 8.7% and fertilizers 6.9%.

The loading volumes of export freight to the ports of the North-West in the first nine months of 2019 amounted to 96.8 million tons, 2.9% more compared to the same period in 2018. About 55.3 million tons were dispatched to the ports of the South, down by 1.2%. Loading to the ports in the Far East exceeded 76.1 million tons, an increase 4.8%.
