Allegro passenger numbers up by 17% in 1H 2019

During January to June 2019, 258,800 passengers travelled on the Allegro international high-speed trains between St. Petersburg and Helsinki, 17% more than last year. In June, Allegro trains transported 52,900 passengers, a 4.5% increase compared to June 2018.

Since the high-speed Allegro services between St. Petersburg and Helsinki began on 12 December 2010, Allegro trains have transported a total of 3.5 million people.

Allegro trains have become increasingly attractive to passengers due to flexible fares and marketing initiatives and the provision of special dual trains with twice the usual number of carriages on days of increased demand, for example during the New Year and Christmas and May holidays. In addition, since 4 October 2018, it has been possible to book tickets for Allegro services 90 days before the train departs.

Passengers can obtain detailed information about the Allegro timetable and fares and book tickets at rail ticket offices, online on the official website of the Russian Railways and through the RZD Passengers mobile app. When selling tickets, payments are made in roubles at the rate set by the Central Bank of Russia on the day the tickets are booked.
