Allegro passenger numbers up by almost 20% in May 2019
In May 2019, Allegro services running between St. Petersburg and the Finnish capital Helsinki transported 51,400 passengers, an increase of 19.8% on May 2018. During the first five months of 2019, Allegro high-speed trains carried a total 206,000 passengers, which exceeds the level during the same period last year by 20.7%.
Since the launch of the international high-speed link between St. Petersburg and Helsinki on 12 December 2010, Allegro trains have transported almost 3.5 million passengers.
The increasing attractiveness of Allegro trains to passengers is facilitated by flexible fares and marketing initiatives, the provision of special twin trains with double the usual number of carriages on days of high demand, for example, during the New Year, Christmas and May holidays. In addition, since 4 October 2018, tickets for Allegro high-speed trains have gone on sale 90 days before the train’s departure.
Passengers can obtain detailed information about the Allegro timetable and fares and book tickets at railway ticket offices, online at the Russian Railways official website (http://pass.rzd.ru/main-pass/public/en) and the RZD Passengers mobile app.
When selling tickets, settlements are made in roubles at the rate set by the Central Bank of Russia on the date the tickets are booked.
