RZD Holding updates long-distance train fleet
The Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of OJSC Russian Railways, is actively updating its rolling stock fleet on popular destinations.
By the end of the first quarter of 2018, it is planned to put into operation about 200 new passenger cars.
At the moment, 133 carriages have already arrived in various regions of the country: 120 couchettes and 13 double-decker cars in a variety of designs.
New couchettes will be included in the following trains: No. 131/132 Orsk - Moscow, No. 31/32 Orenburg - Moscow, No. 69/70 Chita - Moscow, No. 127/128 Krasnoyarsk - Adler, No. 126/126 Cherepovets - Moscow, No. 45/46 Ivanovo - St. Petersburg, No. 21/22/57/58 Ulyanovsk - Moscow - Yoshkar-Ola, No. 73/74 Tyumen - St. Petersburg, No. 91/92 Severobaikalsk - Moscow and No. 11/12/19 / 20 Anapa – Moscow - Rostov.
New double-decker carriages consisting of 10 compartment coaches, one sleeper car, one staff car with a compartment for travel of low-mobility passengers and one dining car) will be included in train No. 3/4 Moscow - Kislovodsk.
This year, the Federal Passenger Company plans to purchase 686 carriages. In line with passenger demand, 589 or 86% of the new carriages will be couchettes. According to statistics, more than 65% of Federal Passenger Company users choose couchettes for their rail journeys.
All the new rolling stock will be equipped with air conditioning systems and biotoilets.
The carriage interiors were finished using modern quality materials with high levels of heat insulation, durability and fire safety.
For the convenience of passengers, the number of electrical outlets in the cars has been increased. USB connectors have been built in so that passengers can recharge their mobile phones and other devices en route.
The carriages are equipped with warning systems (the display shows the exact time and information about the air temperature) and video surveillance.
