More than 2,000 train staff undergo special training before 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™

The RZD Holding is actively preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, which is being held this summer in Russia.

Particular attention is being paid to training the “frontline” personnel who will be dealing directly with the fans.

Considerable numbers of train staff will be involved in providing supporters with free transportation between the cities hosting the football matches.

In the run-up to the World Cup, more than 2,000 conductors and train drivers will therefore undergo training, half of whom have already gained considerable experience in working with foreign passengers during the 2017 Confederations Cup, which was also held in Russia.

A total 85 train crews will work to ensure that the fans have a comfortable journey on our long-distance trains.

Staff will undergo additional training at the Corporate Personnel Training and Methodological Centre of the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of OJSC Russian Railways.

The training programme provides for, among other things, work on interacting with fans, representatives of international delegations and football clubs.

In addition, passenger car conductors and the heads of trains are receiving instruction on organising free travel for the fans and the process for boarding trains with their match tickets and their Fan-ID.

In training the “frontline” personnel, special attention is being paid to studying English and communicating with people from various national cultures, as well as interacting with passengers with reduced physical capabilities.

The Autonomous Non-Commercial Organisation “Transport Directorate-2018” is recruiting temporary staff to help fans at 19 railway stations in the 11 cities hosting the World Cup. Applications can be submitted by any Russian citizen over 18 years of age via the Transport Directorate’s website.

To ensure fan safety along the entire route, passengers on the trains will be accompanied by special transport security groups.

Safety at the stations in the cities hosting the matches will be enhanced through additional training for railway station staff, especially the inspectors on entrance control, the “frontline” personnel of the stations and the heads of the station complexes.

Russian Railways and ANO Transport Directorate-2018 have developed a timetable for the additional trains for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. The Federal Passenger Company will lay on 728 additional train runs with 440,650 seats/berths to provide fans with free transportation to the matches.

Each train will consist of comfortable compartment cars equipped with air conditioners and environmentally friendly toilet complexes, as well as a dining car.

It is planned to use innovative rolling stock consisting of double-decker carriages, Lastochka electric trains and high-speed Strizh trains.

Double-decker trains will run on the routes between Moscow - Samara, Moscow - St. Petersburg, Moscow - Kazan, Moscow – Adler and St. Petersburg - Moscow.

Lastochka and Strizh trains will provide free transportation for fans between Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod.
