Russian Railways and Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant LLP agree on cooperation
On 16 November 2017, Oleg Belozerov, President of Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) Russian Railways, and Kanat Alpysbayev, President of JSC National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy [Kazakhstan Railways], signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Russian Railways and the Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant LLP.
The MoC was signed within the framework of the 19th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan (hereinafter - the ICC) in the presence of Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin.
The signing took place in Aktobe in Kazakhstan
According to the Memorandum, one of the objectives of the cooperation is the consideration by Russian Railways of the possibility of purchasing rails from the Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant over the long term.
The Memorandum states that the Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant is ready to export rails intended for the construction of public railways and high-speed main railways and has the necessary production facilities for the production and delivery of high-quality rails certified according to the national standards of both Russia and Kazakhstan.
The production of rail products will be carried out from blanks produced by Open Joint Stock Company Oskol Electrometallurgical Combine and OAO Ural Steel, both of which are part of the holding Metalloinvest.
Also within the framework of the ICC, Kirill Voronin, director of Roszheldorsnab, which is a branch of Russian Railways, and Andrei Kuzmin, Managing Director of the Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant, signed an agreement on the delivery of rail products by the Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant LLP. The contract provides for the experimental delivery of rail products with a volume of 7,488 tons in 2017.
