Sorting hill commissioned at Tynda station as part of 45th anniversary of Baikal-Amur Railway

Tynda station is one of the most important in Eastern Russia because it sees the convergence of freight and passenger flows in the direction of the Far East, the Trans-Baikal and Khabarovsk territories, the Republic of Buryatia, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Irkutsk and Amur regions. Tynda station also connects the Baikal-Amur railway with the Trans-Siberian railway.

The station has been under development since 2015 in the framework of the integrated project to modernise railways Russia’s vast Eastern region. The need for reconstruction is due to the increase in loading volumes due to the increase in the through capacity of the Baikal-Amur railway due to the construction of new points and crossing and passing loops, double-track inserts and second tracks.

Today, the station can sort about 840 wagons every day. To increase the station’s handling capacity, additional tracks and new points and crossings are under construction.

The sorting hill will be equipped with an automated control system for forming and disbanding trains, modern communication and energy systems and modern wagon retarding mechanisms.

On completion of Tynda station’s reconstruction by 2021, its processing capacity will increase by more than 2.5 times.
