RZD Logistics and Czech operator ČD Cargo sign memorandum on development of international transit projects
RZD Logistics, the largest multimodal logistics operator in the CIS and Baltic countries, and ČD Cargo, a subsidiary of Czech Railways, have agreed to long-term cooperation to organise freight rail transportation in the Eurasian space and develop joint logistics projects in the field of international transit.
Vyacheslav Valentik, Managing Director of RZD Logistics, and Bohumil Rampula, a member of ČD Cargo’s Board, signed a memorandum to that effect at the TransRussia 2019 Exhibition, which is being held from 15 to 17 April 2019 in Moscow.
The parties agreed to combine their efforts to create promising transport products for the international logistics market, including container transit shipments, as well as to conduct joint marketing research in the field of freight rail traffic.
"The rapid development of international transit involves increasing numbers of transport and logistics companies from different countries. We all share a desire to contribute to this global project. Geographically, the Czech Republic is literally in the heart of Europe, which makes it an extremely attractive transport hub for shipping transit freight to almost any part of the European Union, and vice versa – it is convenient to consolidate cargoes in the Czech Republic for their further shipment to the East. I am convinced that ČD Cargo will prove a reliable partner in Europe," said the Managing Director of RZD Logistics Vyacheslav Valentik.
RZD Logistics was created on 19 November 2010 to develop the logistics side of the business at the Russian Railways Holding. The company provides a modern, high-tech and reliable transportation, storage and freight forwarding service around the world and organises supply chains and integrated logistics services for industrial enterprises.
The United Transport and Logistics Company currently owns 100% minus 1 share of RZD Logistics.
ČD Cargo Logistics a.S. is a subsidiary of the ČD Cargo a. S. Holding, the largest railway carrier in the Czech Republic, which is in turn part of the Czech Railways Holding. The company offers transportation services for a wide range of goods, railway wagon rental, the rental and leasing of private sidings and other logistics services.
ČD Cargo is one of the five largest railway carriers in the European Union. The Holding’s strategic goal is to maintain a leading position on the freight rail transport market in the Czech Republic and the Central European region, as well as the status of an efficient, customer-oriented company.
