Passenger traffic on the network owned by Russian Railways increased by 2.4% in November 2018

According to the latest figures, the infrastructure owned and operated by Russian Railways transported 94.3 million passengers in November 2018, 2.4% more than in November 2017. Suburban passenger numbers amounted to 86.2 million, an increase of 2%, while long-distance passengers rose by 6.7% to 8.1 million.

In November 2018, passenger turnover was 8.8 billion passenger-kilometres, 3.2% more than in November 2017. Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 2.6 billion passenger-kilometres, an increase of 3.9%, while long-distance passenger turnover traffic was up 2.9% to 6.2 billion pass-km.

During January-November 2018, a total of 1.06 billion passengers travelled, an increase of 3.4% compared to January-November 2017. Long-distance passenger numbers rose to 102 million, an increase of 8.2%, while suburban passengers amounted to 958 million, up 2.9%.

Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network increased by 5.3% since the beginning of 2018 compared to the same period last year and amounted to 120.1 billion pass-km. Suburban passenger turnover amounted to 30.4 billion pass-km, an increase of 3.5%, while long-distance passenger turnover was 89.7 billion pass-km, a rise of 5.9%.

In January-November 2018, 117.2 million passengers travelled on the Moscow Central Ring (MCR), an increase of 17.5% over the same period in 2017. In November, 11.9 million trips were made, a rise of 11.6%.

On 7 November 2018, the MCR set a new record when 501,767 passengers travelled, the highest figure since the Ring was launched on 10 September 2016.
