Loading volumes of export freight to seaports increased by 5.3% in January-October 201

In January-October 2018, loading volumes shipped to seaports on the rail network owned by Russian Railways increased by 5.3% compared to the same period in 2017, reaching 253.9 million tons due to an increase in coal loading by 3.6%, ferrous metals by 10.4%, fertilisers by 4%, grain by 37.2%, paper by 8.6% and timber by 18.3%.

Coal accounted for 46.9% of export freight, followed by oil (+26%), ferrous metals (+8.8%), fertilisers (+6.7%) and grain (+3.7%). From January to October 2018, total export freight handling at the ports of Russia’s North-West amounted to about 108 million tons, an increase of 7.3% compared to the same period in 2017. About 63.3 million tons were exported from the ports of Russia’s South, a rise of 1%, while exports from Russia’s ports in the country’s Far East amounted to 82.4 million tons, up by 6.3%.
