International Transport and Logistics Forum "PRO//Movement.1520" opens in Sochi The International Transport and Logistics Forum "PRO//Movement.1520" has begun in Sochi.
The delegation of OJSC Russian Railways at the Forum is headed by Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Company’s Board.
The Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Yevgeny Dietrich, greeted the Forum’s participants on behalf of the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
In his address, Dietrich noted that rail transport was a leader in the transport industry in terms of freight and passenger traffic, and that so far, this year has already set new records on a number of indicators.
"Today we are starting to work on high-speed traffic, which should bring fundamentally new management and technological solutions to the railway sector," stressed the minister.
Opening the forum, Oleg Belozerov noted that the discussions planned as part of the programme would help to focus attention on the most important strategic developments and trends in railway transport and logistics and enable a better understanding of the processes taking place by looking several decades into the future.
"The Forum will address similar issues in transport development which both we and our foreign colleagues are facing. I have in mind the business model of the national carrier and the organisational structure of the rail transportation market, the development of coordinated working rules and regulating the tariff environment. As usual, we shall also be discussing the development of the International Transport Corridors (ITCs) between East and West and the use of the transit potential of Russia’s vast territory," said Oleg Belozerov.
The Second International Passenger Forum will also be held within the framework of the "Forum PRO//Movement.1520."
Participants at the Passenger Forum will discuss the development of the passenger transport market in the 1520 Space in both Europe and Asia and consider topical issues such as the development of intermodal services and high-speed traffic. Attendees will also explore the needs of contemporary passengers.
In addition, a session entitled "The Digital Solutions and Transportation of the Future" will examine areas with regard to digital transformation in transport, the introduction of IT innovations and new technologies that are radically changing the process of moving people and goods.
"And of course we have to evaluate who will implement all these strategies and the ideas of today and tomorrow and discuss how the transport industry can meet the need for professionals and experts. We have to develop our own specialists or compete for them on the market – we can either prepare them from scratch or retrain them to meet our needs," said the head of Russian Railways.
The International Transport and Logistics forum "PRO//Movement.1520" is being held in Sochi on 2-3 October 2018.
The Forum is being attended by 1,100 people from 16 countries and 340 companies.
