Loading of export freight to ports increased by 5.4% in 1H 2018

This year has seen a steady growth in the volume of export freight transported through Russian ports.

Loading to Russia’s seaports in January-June 2018 increased by 5.4% compared to the same period in 2017, reaching 153.9 million tons due to an increase of 3.5% in coal loading, 9.7% in ferrous metals, 10% in fertilisers, 77.6% in grain, 8.7% in paper and 18% in timber.

Coal accounted for 46.2% of the total export freight turnover, oil for 26.3%, ferrous metals for 9%, fertilisers for 6.8% and grain for 4%.

Loading of export freight for dispatch to Russia’s North-West ports in January-June 2018 amounted to about 65.5 million tons, an increase of 8.7% compared to the same period in 2017.

About 38.2 million tons were shipped to Russia’s southern ports, a slight decrease of 0.8%.

Loading shipped to the ports of Russia’s Far East exceeded 50.1 million tons, an increase of 6.2%.
