New menu on Sapsan trains designed specifically for 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™

A presentation of the new menu for Sapsan passengers during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™

was held today at Leningrad Railway Station in Moscow.

From 14 to 26 June 2018, bistro cars on Sapsan trains will feature dishes of the world’s cuisines. Russian, French, Middle Eastern and Eastern European food will be on offer, depending on which teams will be playing during the World Cup.

On 14 June, for example, when Russia will be playing Saudi Arabia in Moscow, passengers will be able to order Russian cuisine, and on 15 June, when Morocco plays Iran and Egypt plays Uruguay, Middle Eastern dishes will be on the menu. On 19 June, Poland is playing against Senegal, so on the day of the match passengers will be able to sample dishes from various Eastern European countries.

The menu will end on 26 June, when France plays Denmark and trains will offer French cuisine.

The special football menu was developed by the team of chefs responsible for the Sapsan trains, Sergei Shikhov and Maxim Repin. They put in a lot of effort, selecting, re-interpreting and adapting dishes from different national cuisines to serve excellent snacks, hot dishes and desserts on board the high-speed trains. In all, 18 different dishes will be on offer.

The menu was approved by the Transport Directorate of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.

Passengers will have a choice of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes and hot and cold snacks.

The special menu will also be available to passengers on the additional free trains for fans, which will feature around 73 dining cars.

International visitors who would like to become acquainted with Russian cuisine will find a menu featuring dishes such as solyanka (a thick soup of vegetables and meat), shchi (sauerkraut soup) and bliny (pancakes) etc.
