Grain loading for export on the network owned by Russian Railways up 73% in January-April 2018

Loading of grain in January-April 2018 on the network of Russian Railways amounted to more than 9.8 million tons, 45.5% more than during the same period in 2017. At the same time, 6.3 million tons of grain were shipped for export, an increase of 73% on the 2017 figure.

The major grain loading regions in January-April were the oblasts of Saratov (907,600 tons, up by a factor of 2.8), Kursk (737,600 tons, up by 32.5%), Tambov (698,600 tons, tons, an increase of 84.3%) and Volgograd (690,000 tons, up by a factor of 2.2).

In addition, the strongest growth in loading volumes from January to April was observed in such fertile oblasts as Novosibirsk, which recorded a threefold increase to 267,500 tons, Samara (up by a factor of 2.7 to 243,400 tons), Penza (an increase by a factor of 2.5 to 351,100 tons), Orenburg (also up by 2.5, to 385,500 tons) and Ulyanovsk (up by a factor of 2.3 to 111,500 tons).

In order to attract additional freight volumes, the Company's board decided to establish to offer a reduction factor of 0.897, equivalent to a discount of 10.3%, on tariffs for grain destined for export from stations located in the Voronezh, Orel, Tambov, Orenburg, Saratov, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Penza, Samara, Ulyanovsk and Kurgan regions through Russian ports in their own rolling stock and containers.

The discount covers wheat, rye, oats, barley, corn, rice, buckwheat, beans, peas, beans and other types of grain. The discount will apply up to 30 June 2018 inclusive.
