Russian Railways will increase the number of special formations and train journeys if necessary.
Together with the territorial departments of Rospotrebnadzor, control and monitoring of the preparation and acceptance of passenger carriages en route has been established.
Inspection schedules for “children’s” passenger trains on departure, on arrival and en route have been developed. During the journey, the children’s groups will be accompanied and supported by the best conductors, who have undergone special training on child psychology courses. To ensure safety, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and security companies have also organised train escorts.
With regard to the catering for the children’s groups en route, several different children's menus are usually developed in coordination with Rospotrebnadzor.
Special children’s rooms are being provided at railway station waiting rooms. If necessary, separate rooms will be provided. Station staff will ensure the children’s comfort while they are waiting for their trains and exclude any possibility that unauthorised persons can gain access to the children.
In addition, first-aid stations drawn from the non-governmental healthcare facilities at OJSC Russian Railways are in operation 24/7 at the railway stations.
Separate parking spaces are available for children’s buses on the station forecourts and dedicated teams have been organised to ensure that all the children board and disembark on time.
For the third year in a row, OJSC Russian Railways is also giving a discount of 50% on tickets for children aged 10 to 17 years inclusive between 1 June and 31 August.
Earlier, discounted travel was offered only during term time from 1 September to 31 May.
