Shevket Shaydullin, Deputy Managing Director of Russian Railways and Head of the Department Operational Safety, receives a state award from the Republic of Armenia

Vardan Toganyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation, presented Russian Railways’ Deputy Managing Director Shevket Shaydullin with the Anania Shirakatsi medal in Moscow on 5 February 2018.

The Anania Shirakatsi medal is in honour of the Armenian philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, geographer and alchemist who lived from 610–685 AD and is regarded as Armenia's First Scientist

The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan signed the corresponding decree rewarding Shaydullin for his contribution to strengthening economic cooperation between Armenia and Russia.

According to the Ambassador, Shevket Shaydullin made a significant contribution to the development of Armenia’s transport system in his capacity as the Managing Director of CJSC South-Caucasian Railways.

​CJSC South-Caucasus Railways is a 100%-owned subsidiary of OJSC Russian Railways.

A concession agreement on the transfer of Armenia’s railway transport system to the management of South-Caucasus Railways was signed between the Russian Railways and the Republic of Armenia in Armenia’s capital Yerevan on 13 February 2008.

Under the agreement, the concession is to last for 30 years.
