Tickets for pets on long-distance trains can now be issued through the website of Russian Railways

RU EN

In order to improve the quality of service and passengers convenience, the Russian Railways website can now issue electronic baggage tickets for the transportation of small pets on long-distance trains.

The site also enables passengers to book documents for the transportation of additional hand luggage such as electronic, consumer video and audio equipment and sport and tourist gear.

Previously, the transportation document for taking domestic animals and additional hand luggage onto long-distance trains operated by the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, could only be issued at long-distance ticket offices.

Now, passengers can book electronic baggage tickets when buying their electronic tickets.

When booking an electronic transportation document, passengers are issued a control coupon of the electronic baggage ticket with the details of the trip.

Passengers should note that when boarding their train, they must present a printout of the control coupon.

Passengers on Sapsan trains can carry small pets, birds and dogs (except for large breeds) only at the specialised and designated places. They may not take more than one for each issued ticket. At the same time, the transportation fee for the animal is already included in the ticket price, so additional receipts are not required.

In addition, the rules governing the transportation of passengers, luggage and freight by rail, as approved by Order No. 473 issued by the Ministry of Transport of Russia on 19.12.2013, stipulate that guide dogs must be wearing muzzles and on a leash. The carriage of guide dogs is free of charge.
