More than 530,000 tons of Pacific seafood have been shipped since beginning of year
Since the beginning of the year, 146 accelerated refrigerated trains loaded with fish products have been shipped from the stations of Far Eastern Railways.
During January-November, 281,100 tons of seafood were transported, 35,200 tons more than in the same period last year, an increase of 14.3%.
In total, the shipment of fish products on Far Eastern Railways from January to November 2017 decreased by 9.3% compared to the same period last year and amounted to about 532,200 thousand tons.
In order to support the shippers of fish products and to attract additional freight volumes, the management of Russian Railways decided in September 2017 to set a decreasing coefficient of 0.94, i.e. a 6% discount on the current tariffs for the domestic transportation of fresh, chilled and freshly frozen fish from the stations of Far Eastern Railways.
In addition, a reduction factor of 0.921 equivalent to a discount of 7.9% was also set on the tariffs for these shipments for volumes exceeding 50,500 tons in September 2017, 66,000 tons in October and November 2017 and 85,00 tons in December 2017, which corresponds to the loading volumes in 2016.
