More than 500 additional long-distance train runs to be laid on during New Year and Christmas holidays

To meet the increased demand for transportation during the New Year and Christmas holidays, the Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, will lay on more than 500 additional long-distance train runs.

Peak demand for passenger departures is expected on 29 and 30 December, with return passenger traffic in the opposite direction due on 6, 7 and 8 January 2018.

Additional services will be provided from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Kazan, Izhevsk, Murmansk, Kirov, Mineralnye Vody, Adler, Stary Oskol, Samara, Penza, Ufa, Tambov, Orsk, Orenburg and other cities.

Additional services are scheduled to run from Russia’s northern capital of St. Petersburg to Mineralnye Vody, Kazan, Voronezh, Bryansk, Saratov, Yaroslavl, Volgograd, Arkhangelsk, Kursk, Orel, Ivanovo, Izhevsk, Sosnogorsk, Velikiye Luki and Pskov.

Further train services will depart:

  • from Yekaterinburg to Adler, Kazan and St. Petersburg;
  • from Vladivostok to Khabarovsk;
  • from Rostov to Adler and Kislovodsk;
  • from Adler to Vladikavkaz;
  • from Novorossiysk to Kislovodsk;
  • from Kostroma, Kotlas, Ivanovo to Moscow.

In addition, an additional international train No. 70/69, Moscow – Helsinki will depart from Moscow on 28, 29 and 30 December 2017 and 1, 2 and 3 January 2018. The train will leave Helsinki for Moscow on 29 and 30 December 2017 and 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 January 2018.

In the event of increased demand on various routes, the RZD Holding Company may increase the number of additional trains or include additional carriages in trains which are already scheduled.
